NZX Listed Precinct Properties, the leading owner, developer, and manager of real estate in New Zealand’s largest city centres, has announced an evolution of its business, rebranding Generator to Precinct Flex from 4 August.

Founded in 2011 and purchased by Precinct in 2019, Generator is New Zealand’s premium flexible workspace and corporate events provider in Auckland and Wellington. With Precinct’s unparalleled knowledge of the commercial office market from hotdesking to 1000+ person organisations, the change signals a clear and confident vision for the future.

Scott Pritchard, Chief Executive of Precinct says, “Precinct Flex is a natural evolution of our business. With Precinct’s expertise across the real estate development eco-system from office, to living including residential and student accommodation, through to retail and hospitality including Commercial Bay, Wynyard Innovation Quarter and Bowen Campus, today’s announcement marks an important new chapter for our business. It’s about bringing together our leadership in the flex space with our best-in-class commercial offering to provide our clients with a cohesive solution and seamless service.

“As we continue to focus on delivering sustainable and strategic growth, it signals to our clients Precinct’s ongoing commitment to keeping them and their needs at the centre of business. It anticipates the future of flexible working and the requirements of our members as we continue our focus on providing premium market-leading workspace solutions to businesses of all sizes.

“Precinct Flex is New Zealand’s first and leading provider of premium, flexible workspace and has a history of fostering success stories from mature businesses to innovative tech startups which have thrived in the flexible co-working environment. I’m confident Precinct Flex’s offering will continue to be a drawcard for businesses looking to connect with likeminded communities, along with the benefits of being part of the wider Precinct portfolio and all that offers.”

The announcement comes as the business is preparing to open Pipiri Lane in August, a key address in the Wynyard Quarter Innovation Precinct. The newest addition to the Precinct Flex offering, the building has a 6 Star ‘World Leadership’ Green Star rating and is New Zealand’s first cross-laminated timber (CLT) co-working and event space. It is now taking bookings for the large events space and for the remaining offices available for lease.

“Co-working has undoubtedly changed significantly over the last decade. Precinct Flex and our prestigious Pipiri Lane development meets the present and future needs of Precinct’s existing clients looking for sustainable and flexible events spaces and workspaces, and the pleasing early interest we’ve seen in Pipiri Lane reinforces our belief that the timing is right for a new era of workspace,” says Scott Pritchard.

Precinct Flex members are made up of a dynamic mix of around 250 businesses including Fortune 500 companies, multinational and, New Zealand corporates which make up over 90% of the membership base. The remaining membership is made up of SMEs, start-ups and entrepreneurs.

Whilst most members are businesses between 4-15 people, flexible workplace and events solutions can cater to businesses of all sizes and ways of work, from locations in Auckland (Britomart, 12 Madden Street Wynyard Quarter and Commercial Bay’s PwC and HSBC Towers) and Wellington (Bowen Campus and Waring Taylor Street).

“Across Precinct and Precinct Flex, clients and members are seeking a professional place to work and premium locations with access to the best amenities. The key differences are preferences in the way of working, and whether you manage your own space or have us manage space for you. Precinct’s ability to provide tailored solutions, and our expertise in this field, supports our position as the leading provider of workspace solutions in Auckland and Wellington.

Pipiri Lane - leading edge tech, flexible solutions and sustainable credentials Located in Wynyard Quayside, the new development, Pipiri Lane, is seamlessly connected to Beca House, the headquarters of Beca and the historic Halsey Traders building, offering stunning waterfront views across the Viaduct Harbour. Spanning three levels, the unique timber building offers a blend of exceptional boutique private offices, co-working, and meeting and event suites, including a standout venue for up to 500 people.

For companies who are looking to align their business with innovation, environmental responsibility, and forward-thinking design, Pipiri Lane is the place to be.”

The venue has been designed to accommodate a range of events from smaller meetings to larger conferences. Importantly, for those looking for a location that champions sustainability, in addition to the building’s own credentials, the Precinct Flex team’s commitment to environmental stewardship will see a focus on waste minimisation and sustainable catering options.
